Why Board Certified?
Mark of Excellence
Recognition by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is a mark of excellence. A Board Certified attorney, is an attorney with substantial, relevant experience in a select field of law who has demonstrated special competence in that legal field.
A Distinguished Few
There are more than 70,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Texas. Fewer than 10% of all licensed attorneys are Board Certified. Messrs. DeMarco and Mitchell are two of the distinguished few that have earned the right to be recognized as a specialist in consumer bankruptcy law.
Board Certified lawyers earn the right to publicly represent themselves as a specialist in a select area of the law. In fact, they are the only attorneys allowed by the State Bar of Texas to do so. This designation sets them apart as being an attorney with the highest, public commitment to excellence in their area of law.
Board Certification is not a one-time event. The continuing legal education requirements of Board Certified attorneys are approximately double that of all non-certified attorneys. Failure to maintain appropriate continuing legal education levels will cause an attorney to lose their Board Certification.
